July 31, 2018 – Gainesville, FL – Gainesville-Alachua County Association of REALTORS (GACAR) hosted the 5th annual bowling fundraiser on July 25, 2018 to benefit the Arbor House. The fundraising goal was to raise enough funds to replace all of their flooring in all Arbor House properties. GACAR members worked hard to raise funds and then competed for the bowling awards.
“The goal of new floors was daunting, but this is such a worthy cause,” said GACAR President Susan McQuillan. Arbor House helps local mothers and children transition out of homelessness. This is an issue near and dear to the REALTOR family heart. In 2017 63% of all REALTORS were female.
GACAR members raised more than $13,000 for new flooring that will go into the Arbor House properties this year. President McQuillan said, “We are thrilled to provide Arbor House with sustainable flooring into the foreseeable future.”
GACAR has continued to raise more funds each year through the bowling fundraiser. In 2014, $3,050 was raised for Rebuilding Together of North Central Florida. In 2015, $4,000 was raised for Habitat for Humanity, Family Promise of Gainesville, and Rebuilding Together of North Central Florida. In 2016, $5,000 was raised for Family Promise of Gainesville and Rebuilding Together of North Central Florida. In 2017, $6,000 was raised for Family Promise of Gainesville and Rebuilding Together of North Central Florida. In 2018 the standard has been raised, $13,368 was raised to benefit Arbor House.
GACAR members competed for two coveted honors, the ‘Spirit’ award and Championship Trophy. The spirit award adds a lot of color and enthusiasm to the event. In the past, teams have come with t-shirts, lane decorations, posters, and even synchronized cheers (not drinks). This year the event was loud and competition was hot! Pepine Realty was able to retain the REALTOR trophy and US Title took the business partner trophy. Matchmaker Realty was able win over the judges for back to back spirit awards. New standards for fundraising and competition have been established.
